10 Very Good Reasons To Doubt NLP
- The kinds of people that it attracts. Can make a Unitarian church gathering look downright mainstream.
- Woo-woo. Lots of hocus pocus and discussions of topics too ethereal to be factual.
- Unsubstantiated claims. This stuff has been out for 30 years. Where's the scientific backing ?
- It borrows from other disciplines. So is it NLP ? Or a package of other offerings ?
- People make money from teaching it. Can they be trusted to not embellish ?
- If it looks like a cult, walks like a cult, sound like a cult....
- Get a grip. Could anything this simple work as well as they say it does ?
- Anecdotal evidence being confused with cause and effect.
- If it was this good, wouldn't people be flocking to it ?
- It all sounds too easy.
